Hi friends! Well it hasn't been the best start to the year, has it? Not only are we dealing with this terrible virus, this hilarious, spunky, beautiful girl was diagnosed with Stage Four Breast Cancer at the age of 39. She's a mother, a wife, an RN and one of our VERY best friends.
New Year’s Eve was supposed to be full of celebrating and parties, but unfortunately this last one was not. Natalie got the call that afternoon confirming the tiny indent near her underwire was not caused by her bra. It was cancer. It has spread to her lymphatic system, but for now all her organs (spine, bones and brain) look clear. Just a week earlier she was opening Christmas gifts with her family without a care in the world and then suddenly mourning her life and wondering how long she had to live. Her world changed forever.
Appointments soon filled the January calendar including meeting her oncologist, MRI’s, PET scans, ultrasounds, biopsies, consults, genetic testing and surgery to place a port in her chest. She started a heavy regiment of chemotherapy in January and it has been an extremely rough road for her. Every 21 days she is pumped with the drugs known as T.C.H.P. which goes directly into her heart and takes about seven hours to complete. She’s been such a trooper and has been staying as positive as she can, but she still has a long way to go. This summer she’ll have two major surgeries and continue with seven more months of immunotherapy via the port at the infusion center. She has managed to work some, but between the chemo side effects and the dangers of contracting the Coronavirus working in the hospital, these days are numbered.
I know now probably isn’t the best time for many of you, but if you’re able to donate a bit it would be greatly appreciated! We're hoping to raise enough so she can take a few months off and not worry about finances. She just needs to stay home and focus on healing.
Now, the good news: Recent scans showed shrinkage on the mass and lymph nodes after three rounds of chemo!! Natalie is unleashing her inner Beast Mode and she will WIN THIS FIGHT!!!!
Thank you and please share, share, share!
