Hi All!
My name is Morgan, and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my amazing sister Erin and her family (husband Jake, Hudson (4), and Zander (2)).
On July 9th, Erin received the devastating news that she was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer and the BRCA-1 mutation. Since receiving this diagnosis, Erin underwent a double mastectomy and started chemotherapy on September 19th. Erin is receiving aggressive chemotherapy (8 rounds) due to her stage 2 diagnosis and her young age of 32.
Throughout this process, Erin has demonstrated strength and positivity, all while caring for her two young boys and continuing to work full-time. Unfortunately, after the first round of chemo, Erin developed severe bone (especially hip) pain due to the Neulasta shot, which rendered her unable to walk and has resulted in three trips to the emergency room, two hospital admissions, and a diagnosis of sepsis. Erin has had her port removed (most likely the source of infection) and will have a PICC line placed to receive 4 weeks of abx therapy at home. Erin is currently using a walker and is in need of home health care upon discharge. Her chemotherapy treatment will be paused until she has recovered from these most recent setbacks.
Due to these complications, Erin is taking a much-needed leave from work to focus on her recovery. Her husband Jake has taken time off work to care for Erin and their two young boys. Erin is my best friend, and watching her and her family go through a diagnosis like this has been incredibly hard. She has amazing friends and a great support system; however, I am hoping to help relieve the financial burdens that are associated with a cancer diagnosis. The funds will go towards medical bills, lost wages, childcare costs, food, and necessities for her treatment.
I am so honored to have a sister like Erin that exemplifies strength, determination, and resilience. Erin has told her husband in hard times since her diagnosis, "I feel like I was chosen because I can do hard things. Everything will be fine."
I appreciate you all taking the time to read about my sister's story and donating to her family if able. Most importantly, if you could keep my sister in your thoughts and prayers, that is all I could truly ask for.
With Love,
