Bite Erik's Cancer in the Mouth

Help us bite the heck out of Oral Cancer.

So, diagnosis clear...biopsy says it's cancer for my husband Erik. Mass on tongue, and possible mass on jaw, lymph nodes are impacted. Treatment is a 10+ hour surgery to remove most of tongue and lymph nodes, followed by at least 10 days hospitalization, radiation, and much physical therapy to get his speech and eating ability back. Jaw surgery to be determined based on 2/18's imaging results.

After several rough years, Erik was very much on track to live a healthy and long life, and we are going to fight this together. But, I need to work full time, provide transportation from Olympia to Seattle, etc. And, eventually, there will be medical expenses that his insurance won't cover.

We have had many people help us out through tough times, and thought we were to a point where we could start giving back again (like we used to when I was making the big bucks). Yet, here we are.

For now are asking for help in transportation, incidentals, and auto-repair costs. Your time to drive him and be an advocate for him if I can't always be there, so that I can keep working, would also be appreciated.

We will also no longer be able to afford the lovely rental that I had hoped to buy someday, due to loss of available work hours for me (I already can't make this months rent), and his complete inability to work for the forseeable future.

Any help in finding us a $600-$800 shack with a tiny yard that allows pets in the greater Olympia area would be much appreciated (we pay, just need your eyes and ears out for that kind of place).

He will get the best care by going the UW route v.s. being put on a waiting list in Olympia, and time is critical, since his diagnosis and treatment has already been delayed due to waiting for a referral from his original primary care physician, and then the original dentist not pushing the issue. He has a great doctor now https://dental.washington.edu/people/jasjit-k-dillon/ and we have no doubt that she will do whatever is possible for him.

Little bits help for now. Later, I may request that some of you who are good organizers pitch in with labor and special skills/talents to hold a fundraiser or two.
