Those of us who know and love Erika DeSimone (and there are many) think of her as a powerful and positive force. She is a successful business owner, a devoted single mother and a wise, wickedly funny friend. So it is an honor for us to show up for her in this moment--when she needs us most.
As you may already know, Erika experienced a rare, acute inflammatory response to her first dose of the Moderna vaccine, resulting in the loss of vision in her 20/20 eye. Unfortunately, the vision in her unaffected eye was already quite limited.
Last year, during the shut down, Erika pivoted from her pre-pandemic career as a wildly popular event producer, to become a Covid compliance officer for TV and film. This is a woman who doesn’t give up - who always has a backup plan, who is always there for her community--offering optimism and love. Now it’s time for all of us to rally around her. With medical bills mounting, Erika is unable to work, or to be the active mother her beloved 3 year old daughter is used to. With our help, she will be able to continue consulting with top medical experts, get extra support for Alessandra, and focus her attention on healing.

Erika is not anti-vaccine and is wary of her situation being co-opted by such movements. However you may feel about this issue, we ask that you do your best to be respectful of her concerns.
