Erika's Service Dog Fund for Seizure Safety
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Erika and I am looking to acquire a service dog. After months of seizures, sickness and injuries, I have been unable to work as much, sometimes not at all, and am looking for help to save for a service dog. Service dogs can be trained to prevent people with Epilepsy, such as myself, from harming themselves during seizures. I have suffered from black eyes, scraped knuckles, chipped teeth, and even multiple scalds and 2nd/3rd degree burns. My medical team still hasn't been able to find an end to my seizure activity, so for plan B - I am looking to save up money for a service dog.
I would be purchasing a puppy (~3000$) through a line of working dogs (I have not chosen a breeder yet since I don't have the money yet), and then investing in personalized training classes that can cost thousands of dollars, not including pet insurance, food and overall maintenance. There is also around a 1000$ fee just to get it certified after the classes. I set a large goal because of the lifetime cost a service dog can have.
Service and protection dogs can prevent falls, injuries, preform tasks when I am postictal(confused after a seizure), and overall protect me from strangers and from harm when I am alone. They can also provide protection and assurance of my personal safety in general. Purchasing the dog, raising it, and getting it trained will cost me a lot of money I don't have. I hate to ask for money, however I'm unsure where to turn to at this point and anything would help me out! If you know me personally, zelle and venmo work as well so I can add the money to my savings account. I'm not expecting much or anything at all, but I'm going to give it a try!! I am so grateful for all the support I have already been given. So much love. <3
