Erika Wales is our beloved long time mail carrier for the downtown Winslow, Bainbridge Island, community.

While walking her route for the USPS, she tripped in a parking lot and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. Several years later, she was once again back on her route and experienced a grand Mal seizure. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where it was eventually determined that her prior TBI was the cause of her seizure (in addition to many more that she has had since). She has continued to require regular medical care ever since, including multiple and ongoing imaging, tests, etc., at enormous expense.

Erikas needs are many, and varied.

As a result of her seizure, her Drivers License was revoked. As driving was part of her USPS job requirements, she also lost her job and had to apply for Disability. This has been an incredibly cumbersome and lengthy process. Her medical insurance with USPS has now run out, and she has begun the process of applying for federal aid, but again, as her bills and medical costs continue to rise, she is without any source of income.

Erika is a longstanding, beloved member of our little community and she needs our support! She deserves some peace of mind while she travels this journey which was certainly not of her making.

Erika needs help with her rent, her utilities, her groceries, and all of the new medications that she now is required to take, most likely for the rest of her life.
