Hi friends and family. As some of you may know, my sister and best friend, Erika, was diagnosed with cancer on April 28th 2017. She went to the doctor expecting an outcome so very different than what she received and the diagnosis felt devastating. No one wants to hear the "C" word, especially as a 36 year old mother of 3.

The last several weeks have been filled with emotions and doctors appointments, as Erika has been trying to make some tough decisions regarding her treatment and lifestyle changes, all while holding it together as a wife and mother of three beautiful girls: Macee (8), Harper (5) and Brielle (4 months).  

On a positive note, the cancer is stage 2 and has been recognized as a slow growing cancer. We all know how tough (and stubborn :) Erika is, so I know with certainty that she is going to make it through this stronger than ever! Nevertheless, we could use your help and support.

The proposed treatment plan at this time is an intense 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. The cancer center Erika is working with is in Skokie, IL, north of Chicago. This center specializes in an integrative approach to adminstering chemo in a way that is most effective in killing the cancer and most receptive by the body. So, she will be part time in IL and part time in IA for treatments. We're not sure at this time if or how much Erika will be able to work during and after her treatment, or when she will be able to go back full-time. In addition, the cost of treatments and travel expenses during this time are expected to be great. Any donations to lessen this burden would be extremely helpful and appreciated!
