Help Erika reach the Olympics
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Diane, and I am fund-raising for Erika, the daughter of my good friend Olga. Erika's family of 6 recently moved to the United States. Erika is on track to be an Olympic hopeful in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Here is her story.
Erika Goncharenko is 12 years old. Erika started recreational gymnastics at the age of 2, in her home country of Belarus. When she was 4 years old she received her first medal. When she was 5, she began doing Rhythmic Gymnastics and continued until the age of 11.5. During that time she participated in many competitions on a national level, including the Olympics Hopes, where she won medals three years in a row (2020, 2021, 2022). Erika also participated in international competitions in Europe, where she medaled as well. She participated in the World Championships in Minsk in 2018 and 2019.
In the summer of 2022 Erika and her family moved to the USA and Erika continued her training at a local school, OK Rhythmic Empire in Hopedale, MA. She is a level 9 gymnast and has already medaled in several competitions in MA and PA. At her last competition in Pittsburgh, she received first place among all age groups at her level.
Erika wants to continue her training, but unlike Belarus where everything was paid for by the state, in the US the family of high- level athletes must pay for training, travel and competition costs. Erika's goal is to get to level 10, which is by invitation only, after you perform well at the state, regional and hopefully national competitions. Erika's family are new immigrants with 4 children just starting their life in the USA, and they are unable to cover the costs. The amount we are raising it to continue with this year's competitions. Please help Erika achieve her dream of reaching a national team, and becoming a wonderful gymnast and a great coach in the future.
A heartfelt thank you from all of us!
