On August 7th, while transferring from her bed to her wheelchair, Erika fell, resulting in 2 broken femur bones. The accident occurred in Miami, several hours from her home in Clermont. The breaks in her legs required surgery to insert pins and plates to repair the damage. Surgery was successful; however, in the recovery room, Erika experienced a heart attack leading to being placed on a ventilator. In this recovery process, there have been some challenges and setbacks. At this time, Erika has a tracheostomy as well as a feeding tube in her stomach. Erika is waiting for transport to a rehab facility in central Florida closer to her and Jerry's home.
