While visiting a friend out of town, Erika (single mom) mistook a basement door for a bathroom door, in the wee hours of the night, and took quite a fall down wooden stairs. This resulted in a broken wrist, 7 broken ribs in multiple places, broken clavicle, large hematoma on head, small brain bleed, broken cheekbone and a hemo- and pneumothorax. 
After being released on Christmas Day, Erika was rushed to OSU Medical Center last night (12/27)  because her left lung was almost full of blood, leaking air, and starting to collapse, they had to insert a chest tube.   She’s waiting to find out if she needs surgery for her cheek. 

Erika started a new nursing job as an ER Nurse  about 6 mos ago, because she has not been there for a full year she is ineligible for short term disability (FMLA) which means after this week she has zero income and still has to pay her insurance premiums.
