Erika Baltazar's Medical and Funeral Fund

Hi my name is Incon Alvarado and in collaboration with so many that are grieved, we are trying to raise funds for my niece, Erika Baltazar (28 years old) and her medical costs from her tragic passing. On November 15th, 2021 - Erika’s family had to make the difficult decision to remove her off life support due to complications caused by COVID-19.

Erika had been fighting hard to beat this virus and through a series of 3 different hospital visits, one of those hospitals under her insurance that rejected admitting her due to “not being sick enough” (Northwestern Medicine -Delnor Hospital in Geneva). As a result, she had to make the decision to go out of her insurance's network to receive the proper care at Sherman Advocate hospital. They graciously admitted her in, took great care of her in her journey towards recovering and within the next few days would be released. Unfortunately, the night before her initial release date, a blood clot formed in her brainstem that caused a stroke and resulted in irreversible brain damage that left her unresponsive. Sherman staff and Erika's family made the decision to transfer her to Lutheran General - Park Ridge, to undergo surgery to remove the clot. As they completed the surgery they noticed the clot reforming and doctors were unable to perform any other life-sustaining treatments.

Erika peacefully passed at Lutheran General on November 15th at 6:05pm. On behalf of my sister Reyna and her husband Jose and all of the Baltazar sisters (Maribel, Susie, Gaby and Natalie) — Erika fought hard to try and defeat the virus; that she had to be treated at hospitals not covered by her insurance which undoubtedly will put her family in a financial hardship. Needless to say this has turned my family's world upside down. If you would like to assist with their financial burden any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised would go directly to Erika's medical and funeral costs. If you are unable to give, a prayer for her family during this difficult time is more than enough.

To my beautiful niece Erika...There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone the light remains and you were one of them. Rest in peace, my niece, until we meet again.
