Erik's Battle
Donation protected
On Wednesday, Jan 8, my sister's son Erik woke up early in the morning screaming his head hurt. Nothing Jen tried was able to help, so she trusted her gut and took him to the ER. Fairly quickly, her entire world was changed when the doctors came in with results saying "there's a tumor in his brain".
From there, the whirlwind of the unknown began. They were transferred two hours away to Children's Hospital, for further testing and surgery. Surgery is set for Friday, Jan 10th, and a can take anywhere from 6-8 hours. The recovery road ahead of their family is also predicted to be fairly long. As of now, the tumor is thought to be benign, but won't be official until biopsies come back.
Erik himself has been in good spirits so far! He's told his mom "oh that dark spot, it’s just from all the chocolate I’ve been eating, it got stuck there. No need to cry over chocolate mom!" So they've since began referring to Erik's tumor as "chocolate". He's also got extra sweet spots for some of his nurses and doctors!
We all know how extremely stubborn both Jen and Erik's dad, Seth, are. They never ask for anything but prayers and good vibes. Seth is retired, and Jen is out of work for the unforseeable future. They also have two girls at home, 2 hours away. Medical bills, follow ups, travel expenses and even food while traveling and staying at the hospital are going to start sneaking up on them. They never would ask for help, but I know so many wanting to help in anyway they can. Let's try to help take the burden of draining their savings away from them, and allow Jen to take her time going back to work.
If you can't donate, please share this for others. Let's keep the prayers and positive vibes coming for Erik and his family. After all is said and done, and Erik finally goes home, he's going to need a TON of extra spoiling.
