Erik Brevik's Medical Fund

For most anyone in the state of Colorado, I don't have to describe Erik Brevik. He is known for his smile, his laugh and his ability to inspire both in others. He is known for his kindness, his thoughtfulness and his patience. More than anything, perhaps, Erik is known for his willingness and ability to help others. Erik is one of the only men I've ever known to be accurately associated with some of the greatest souls in human history and he lives up to that every day. To put it simply, and these are not even my own words, Erik Brevik is a wonderful person. A loyal and dedicated friend. A loving and giving brother. A helper. Now, he needs the help, and I want to help give it to him. 



Erik is never one to complain. He carries his burdens without a word to make it easy for others to share theirs with him. He has been living with pain for a while now, however, and a recent specialist has discovered both the source of his ailments and the seriousness. Due predominantly to a congenital condition, Erik is suffering greatly from a medical issue that is becoming increasingly debilitating. This condition could, without the internal surgery that has been planned, become devastating for him in a short period of time. His ability to breathe, eat and digest normally is immenently threatened, as is his golden voice.


We have located and secured the services of a specific and very competent surgical team, who assure us that they can address and resolve Erik’s condition, provided they can operate promptly.

Our problem lies with our family’s long-standing medical insurance policy, which has changed dramatically and unexpectedly since last summer. To be specific, we now need to come up with a deductible/down payment of $9000 to get this operation and treatment underway. 

Several plans have been put into the works. I am dedicating every ability I have to raising the necessary money. My family is going to do anything we have to, but as we planned on several possibilities, I realized something. As much as we love Erik, I know we're not the only ones who care so deeply about him. He has provided a beacon of light in the community as a whole. I know there are other people out there who would be just as willing to help, if only we ask. The trouble is, like I said, Erik doesn't often ask for help. His way of doing things is to put himself last so he can always put his friends, family and community first. 


But I'm his big brother. It's my job to take care of my little brother. That's what I'm doing with this GoFundMe. It's time Erik came first. So I ask for your help. I know not everyone can afford to contribute personally, but there are other ways to help. I couldn't begin to make a list of every one of Erik's allies. So please, even if you can't contribute please consider sharing this with those who you think would like to be able to. We have lived in Colorado Springs our entire lives. I have seen how this community can come together and help those in need. A single share, or a single donation, can do just that. 


Many friends of mine know that I went through a scary hospital stay earlier this year. I am still dealing with the consequences and it was more than a close call because, as I mentioned above, there is a congenital element to what's going on. If we can get this treatment and surgery scheduled for Erik, we can save him that pain, the growing risk, the damage and his voice. Please help us rally around this beloved brother, son and friend.
