Eric’s Fight Against Cancer
If you’ve never had the opportunity to meet Eric, you’re missing out knowing the most selfless partner, dad, son, brother and friend you would ever meet. He’s also an Iraqi Veteran and Harley Davidson fanatic! He and my daughter, Jill, have been a blended family for one year, but it might as well be 10 years! They are the most beautiful family and always put their 6 children above everything else.  Eric coaches his son's football team, umpires at little league baseball games, and takes his daughters to gymnastics.  He is a partner in a San Diego plumbing business and Jill is an RN at a special education school in San Diego.
In March 2015, Eric was diagnosed with 3 blood clots in lungs, as well as clots in his legs and arms.  He was put on medication and continued working to provide for his family.  Unfortunately, the medication wasn't working and Eric's condition got worse.
On May 1st, after a long and difficult series of tests, Eric was diagnosed with Acute Promyeloctic Leukemia (APL). He was immediately admitted to the ICU and began chemotherapy that evening. He is currently on 3 types of chemo daily – 5 pills morning and night and an IV that is 24/7. He will be in the hospital for 30 days and God willing – if his numbers are better, after 30 days he can go home for 1-2 weeks and then back in the hospital for 10 days. This pattern continues for a minimum of 6 months. This is all we know right now and we continue to pray for Eric, Jill and their family.
Jill is a contract nurse and doesn’t get paid if she doesn’t work. At the moment her priority is Eric and the children, but she also knows she needs to work to help pay their bills and she is honestly, very dedicated to her special needs children at the school.
So I decided to give this a try and ask for some help for Jill and Eric to off-set their living and medical expenses while Eric is battling this horrific disease. They are facing great emotional and financial strain and I’m trying to help.
Please feel free to donate if you’d like, but there is no pressure for you to do so. Any amount is helpful and is greatly appreciated. It would be great for Eric and Jill to be able to focus on his recovery and their family while he is unable to work. Thanks so much for your time.
With much gratitude,
Cheryl (Jill’s Mom)
