Eric's stroke recovery care & Chrissy and Bailey

This is Eric's sister. I started this page for my brother who has just had a major stroke. We are so thankful that it appears he's most likely going to make it, but he is still mostly paralyzed on one side and unable to talk or swallow, and we don't know what his chances of recovery are or how long that might take (a nurse gave a low expected function recovery percentage estimate which we're hoping turns out to not be the case).

I know that Eric probably wouldn't want me starting a GoFundMe for him (and his wife Chrissy confirmed that too), but with medical bills and needing to focus on what can be a very tough recovery while still providing for her and their baby, I felt that I should do it anyways because they'll need it.

For the goal of this, I just put $1 because the amount needed is unknown, but I expect it to be a lot. Unfortunately, Eric doesn't have insurance, and since the initial phase is supposedly the most important for doing rehab from a recovery standpoint, the hope is to have funds lined up so money isn't an obstacle. He'll need physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, both intensely at the beginning starting any day now as well as ongoing for a long time. I'm looking for a program for him and just spoke to the Loma Linda inpatient stroke rehab center which said the initial cost can be above $50,000 and must be paid up-front for the first round which is up to 2 weeks. I don't know what the cost will be after that, but it sounds like there will be a long course of outpatient rehab on top of living expenses.

Regardless of whether you contribute anything financially, the outpouring of love and support has meant a lot to Chrissy and the rest of us, and I'm sure will mean a lot to Eric when he's able to fully process it. Keeping him in your prayers is deeply appreciated as we are hoping for a miraculous recovery.
