Hi, my name is Mona Lawson. I am fundraising for my son, Eric Bounting.
January 29th: Eric woke up at about 0230-0300 with chest discomfort. He thought it was heartburn.
0500: Eric woke his wife, Sarah, up reporting severe chest pain, jaw pain, and arm numbness and pain.
Ambulance called. Ambulance left at about 0530
0630-ish: Sarah got to hospital in Hot Springs, SD. The doctors tell her Eric needs to be flown to Rapid City, SD. The helicopter is on its way. He has ST elevation, high troponin, continued shortness of breath, Heart rhythm irregularities, and perfuse sweating. Everything is pointing to a heart attack.
0700 he is on the helicopter.
0800: A Cath Lab nurse calls Sarah for an update, Eric is in the cath lab already. He has a blockage and they need to take more measurements.
1000-ish: he is out of cath lab and in a Cardiac hospital room. The cardiologist placed one stent to the LAD. He has pretty significant heart damage, high pressures in heart, and low heart function. He is considered to be in Cardiogenic shock. The doctor orders a diuretic. Eric continues to have chest pain, jaw pain, and arm numbness.
More blood tests, tons of EKGs, an echocardiogram.
Echocardiogram shows his EF is 27%, about half of the function it should be. The tip of the heart is not moving/pumping. There is some thickening on heart wall. Quite a bit of inflammation. All of this is likely the cause of the residual chest/jaw/arm pain.
January 30th
Low blood pressures throughout the night. More blood work and another echocardiogram today. The echocardiogram shows an EF of 32% with no Improvement of the Apex of the heart (It is barely pumping/moving).
Eric was discharged home on February 1st with multiple medications, many future doctor appointments, and the need for Cardiac Rehab. He has another Echocardiogram scheduled for one month from heart attack to check his EF, the inflammation, and the movement of the Apex of the heart. Eric starts Cardiac rehab this week. He will go three times a week for 14 weeks.
Eric and Sarah have an 11 year old son and a 3 month old daughter. Sarah is returning to work after 12 weeks of maternity leave this week. With the medication needs, appointment needs, Cardiac rehab needs, and sitter needs, I am asking anyone that can, to donate to this wonderful family to help them stay a float as Eric heals from his heart attack and this family adjusts to a new life while managing Eric's Heart Failure.
I will post future updates.
