Support for Eric’s Recovery Journey

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my older brother, Eric, as our small family is doing all we can, but we’ve reached a point where we truly need help.

Eric underwent a critical open-heart surgery to perform a triple bypass. With 90%, 80%, and 70% arterial blockages and diabetes complicating his health, the surgery was vital to avoid a life-threatening stroke.

The procedure on April 17 went well, and he was released on April 22. Unfortunately, due to limited recovery resources at home, Eric developed a post-operative E. coli infection, leading to severe complications and readmission to the hospital. He required multiple wound flushes, strong antibiotics, and eventually underwent a second surgery to close the wound on May 19. After discharge on May 21, he was placed on a six-week IV antibiotic regimen and faced 12–16 weeks of restricted movement and no driving.

As you can imagine, this extended recovery took a major toll. Eric was unable to return to work and is facing mounting medical expenses on top of his daily obligations. To make matters worse, after finally receiving a release to work under strict physical restrictions, his employer advised him he cannot work under those restrictions, given the work duties and responsibilities he was hired to fulfill. At this time there are no jobs that he can be offered under reasonable accommodations and they advised there is a potential that he will be unable to return to work, until his physical restrictions have been lifted. We are talking about another 4 months of no stable income. His short term benefits have been suspended until further notice, which is causing added stress and increased levels of uncertainly, when he should be focused on his recovery.

While we’re exploring and exhausting all options, we’re asking for any support—no matter how small—to help ease this overwhelming burden and give Eric the time and resources he needs to fully heal and return to work. Your kindness will go directly toward medical bills, recovery needs, and basic living expenses during this critical time.
