This campaign is to raise money for Eric's medical bills, to help battle his cancer through treatment. We are very greatful for any donation big or small as every bit helps.
Eric is 10 years old and lives in Louisiana. He is never sick, has had perfect attendance since Pre-K and loves sports. He plays football, basketball and soccer. On Saturday, October 29th he went to his little brother's birthday party at a trampoline facility and fell the wrong way. The next night he complained about his side hurting, and by Monday he was in soo much back pain he couldn't play in his football game. Carrie and Gary thought he might have pulled a back muscle, developed a kidney stone, or possibly appendicitis due to a fever. All we can say is someone was watching out for Eric. He was seen by his pediatrician who recommended a CT scan, the results showed a possible hematoma on his right kidney, about the size of a grapefruit- 11.5CM. Eric returned to school after receiving fluids while in the hospital. He began to run a fever of 99.9 just about every other day around 3pm. After several weeks Carrie called the doctor. They recommended doing a small procedure to drain the hematoma, in hopes this would shrink it as well as take a biopsy. The results were PROFOUND! Eric was diagnosed with Euwing Sarcoma inside his right kidney. Euwing Sarcoma is a rare cancer only affecting about 200 children in the USA from age 10-20. It is a Bone cancer and a FAST GROWING one. The fact that it is in his soft tissue makes Eric only 10 in the USA and only 100 Globally. Eric recently underwent a 4 hour surgery to remove the infected right kidney. He now has to complete 14 sessions of Chemotherapy to ensure that this rare sarcoma doesn't come back.
Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. God Bless you.
