Ericks Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery

On Saturday, April 15 2023, I sustained a life-changing head injury . I hit the back of my head on the cement floor I was unconscious for about 5 minutes till the paramedics showed up and CPR and first aide were performed till I was conscious again, I was then transported to the local hospital (Beverly hospital in Montebello CA,) Due to the extent of my injuries after multiple CT Scans and medical evaluations I was transported to Keck Medicine of USC - Keck Hospital of USC In Los Angeles CA, neurology ICU, after numerous tests, and evaluations, it was determined that i suffered a severe TBI, CT Scan showed a combination of SDH and SAH in the left anterior temporal lobe and sylvian fissure measuring 5 x 4 x 6 mm. CT Scan was also notable for a non displaced fracture in the anterior frontal bone/Skull. Throughout the entire ordeal, so many people expressed their concerns and love for me. I received numerous calls and texts that I still haven’t answered. More importantly, received countless prayers and well wishes. Because of those prayers, I am alive and fighting to be better everyday.

I was currently going to school for my nursing career, but that stopped. Unfortunately I am on leave from school/work now. I will need further treatment and therapy over the next couple of months. The doctors also informed me that i will have complications of memory loss, speech problems and many other physical complications that come with a TBI. Im really scared right now i try to remember and process everything in my life , i know this new reality will have an enormous impact on me and my personal life. Despite all these challenges, I’m so grateful for being alive and the outpouring of love and support so many people reached out. Unfortunately now I have medical expenses, and I’m financially unstable, Therefore, any help is greatly appreciated. I feel empty, but I’m a fighter, and I’m going to win this battle.
