In Loving Memory of Ericka Steele RN

Ericka Steele was a devoted mother of five sons and a Registered Nurse. I was impressed with how she was attending nursing school and raising five sons. She did it! She completed nursing school. Unfortunately, during this process she was diagnosed with Lupus. She was determined not to let Lupus interfere with all her hard work and sacrifices. Shortly after working as a nurse, her son Micah was diagnosed with cancer. Ericka tried to continue working, but she decided to devote her time to taking care of her son. The worst thing for Lupus is stress, and having a sick child was the worst stress a parent can experience. But Ericka put on her boxing gloves fighting her son’s cancer, and her lupus. After five years of fighting cancer, sadly Micah passed away. This devastated the entire family, and lupus chose to take cheap shots during her most vulnerable time, disabling her. If that wasn’t enough, she lost her eldest son Malik during Covid. Ericka had a strong relationship with God, and it was her faith that kept her strong; she kept pressing on despite not being able take care of herself. Ericka’s remaining sons (Malaun, Makel, and Marcel), then begin to fight for her. These amazing young MEN cooked, cleaned, took her to doctors appointments, and got whatever job they could find to help out financially. She raised MEN, amongst men. It is with saddened hearts that we must announce that Ericka’s fight ended 12/6/2023, she passed away; we are heartbroken. Today I come to you with a humble heart on behalf of her sons to ask for a contribution to help with her funeral services. I know this is the Holiday season, and times have been tough for everyone, so whatever you can do will be GREATLY appreciated. On behalf of her sons and family, I’d like to thank you in advance.
