Help Erick Recover and Rebuild After Tragic Accident
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I’m reaching out with an incredibly heavy heart to share the devastating news that my husband, Erick, was involved in a tragic head-on car accident. Another vehicle drifted into his lane, causing a collision that has changed our lives forever. Tragically, our nephew, who was a passenger in Erick's vehicle, was killed in the accident. The grief of this loss weighs heavily on us, and we are struggling to navigate the many challenges ahead.
Erick was airlifted to Tulsa and spent 13 days in the ICU, fighting for his life. He sustained critical injuries, including a collapsed lung, shattered hip, severely broken lower leg, broken wrist, and dislocated ankle. He has undergone several surgeries and will need more as part of his long recovery.
Living off-grid, which we have done for years, requires great physical strength, and Erick, a hardworking and resilient man, will no longer be able to perform the demanding tasks needed for this lifestyle. His physical rehabilitation will take several months, and during this time, we face significant financial challenges, including medical bills that may not be fully covered by insurance.
We now find ourselves in urgent need of a new place to live—somewhere that doesn’t require so much physical exertion for Erick. Our truck, which was essential for transportation, was also totaled in the accident, and we need to replace it in order to get to doctor’s appointments and take care of essential needs.
This GoFundMe is being created to help cover ongoing medical expenses, the cost of relocating, replacing our truck, and any other needs that arise as Erick continues his long and difficult journey to recovery. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a tremendous difference in our lives. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with others would also mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and generosity during this unimaginable time.
With deep gratitude,
Vickie
