Erick & Amy Luther - Medical Emergency

Donation protected
This is my sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Erick Luther.

Amy and Erick live in the Triad and were traveling. Erick had to be taken to the Emergency Department at a hospital in Florida on Saturday, May 24th. They are still there.

Erick is showing some improvement, but it has been and will be a long road for them. He was not expected to pull through those beginning days, but he is still fighting. They were told he had double Pneumonia, RSV, an enlarged spleen and liver and was septic. He was later also diagnosed with Hemophilia Influenza and Legionnaires' Disease and has been on a high level of oxygen while in the ICU.

Tomorrow is Day 10 for them at an out-of-state hospital. Amy and Erick are a long way from family and home. Erick is blessed to be alive today, and we are thankful. We appreciate all the many, many prayers—keep them coming!

Erick is currently in the PCU, and we are not sure when he may be able to come home. They told them it will have to be a 2-day trip once that time comes, as his health won’t allow the 9-hour drive without an overnight hotel stay to rest his body. They have also told him it will be a long recovery once he is home, and he will require home health services as well. Amy and Erick have exhausted all PTO time they had left, have both been out of work and he does not have long-term disability insurance. Just the daily costs for Amy to eat and drink while there for all these days has been a lot.

I am asking that if you feel led in your heart to help—yes, pray—but they are also experiencing now (and for an unknown time while he recovers) a difficult financial burden due to this very unexpected sickness, so donations of any amount would be extremely appreciated and would help ease some of the burden.

Erick has literally been fighting for his life, and no one should have to be worried about money and bills during a time like that.

We thank God that Erick is still here, and we thank every one of you for the prayers. Thank you all so much as well for any donations.
