Running for Eric D.

In September 2014 we lost someone very near and dear to our hearts: Eric DeStefano. He was a brother, a son, a friend, a teammate, and classmate to many. He was one of the most genuine individuals and welcomed anybody and everybody with open arms. He knew how to make us laugh, he knew how to challenge us (in the classroom, on the field, and in life), he was a coach, a dreamer, and he was your biggest fan. Though he might have played a different role in each one of our lives, Eric managed to leave the same lasting impression in all of our hearts.

On Sunday April 26th we are running the Bend Half Marathon. It has been on our “To Do” list to run a race outside of the Portland area to get a change of scenery and we thought what better place than Central Oregon! We both have known Eric and the DeStefano family since grade school and have struggled, like many, with his passing in the Fall. As our training kicks into high gear and race day quickly approaches, we thought more about the ways in which we can keep Eric’s spirit alive and while running was one of Eric's least favorite things to do, we thought this might be the perfect opportunity. Running is always much more enjoyable when you have something or someone to run for, so we thought it would be great to run these 13.1 miles dedicated not only to Eric but to a cause that had deep meaning to him: The Down Syndrome Network Oregon ( Please visit this link for more information.

We are hoping to meet our goal by race day so we have just over 2 months. All money here will go directly to the organization – any amount helps!

We thank you on behalf of Eric,
