Hi friends, my name is Erica and I’m resorting to crowdfunding in order to help pay for some huge unexpected medical costs for my two best friends. Yesterday, I took my dog, Sandy, in to assess a weird mass in her mouth. It turns out it is an oral cancer of some sort, and she is scheduled to have it removed as much as possible. This is very hard news for me. Sandy has been my best friend for 13 years. I rescued her when I was living in California from a breeder that had less than good intentions with the puppies he was breeding in his backyard in LA. Sandy was a hard case and multiple trainers told me she was a lost cause and that she may never be a “normal” dog. She was so terrified she wouldn’t even stand up for months. Needless to say, she has made a fool out of everyone who has doubted her in her past.

When it rains, it pours.

I got home from the vet yesterday to find the newest member of our furry family, Po (my rescued black tabby), was in an immense amount of distress. When I took him to the vet this morning for an emergency visit, I was told he has a bladder blockage. I am very grateful they were able to see him with such short notice (we don’t have an emergency vet here on Kauai). He will need to stay at the veterinary hospital for 3 days with a catheter sewn into his teeny weenie penie. It’s like an avalanche broke free and I am heartbroken. It’s hard not to take it personally when this is all happening at the same time. If you know me, you know my animals are my everything and I would do anything to make them comfortable. My financial situation has recently changed for the worse (I’d rather not get into it), but anything helps.
