Erica's Health Journey - Red Hawk Academy Tuition

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Chad. My wife Meghann and I are asking you to join us in support of Erica Walters attending Red Hawk Academy for Girls. Red Hawk is a therapeutic boarding school for teens experiencing future-impacting relational or emotional difficulties brought on by past traumatic events. The Walters have been close friends of ours for years.

A family friend of the Walters has generously committed to matching $25,000 in support received.

During the summer of 2019, Aaron and Sarah Walters were faced with one of their life's most important and life-changing decisions. God had already confirmed their calling to adopt abroad, and Sarah found herself on her first trip to Africa, where she was finally about to meet their soon-to-be daughters, Dekontee and Paulyn. While visiting the girls' orphanage, she not only met her two newest daughters for the first time, but met and fell in love with another little girl named Erica. Though she felt an immediate bond with Erica, she honestly was not sure they could handle six children. As she wrestled with God on this decision, God spoke to her and said "Do you trust me?" With that, their decision was made, and they soon became a family of 8.
Aaron and Sarah knew it would be challenging to go from 3 to 6 kids overnight, but they had no idea how severe trauma could impact their household. All 3 of their Liberian daughters have walked through some of the most horrific experiences one could imagine; however, Erica has endured some of the most heartbreaking. Beginning at an early age, she suffered severe, terrifying, and consistent abuse at the hands of her caregivers. At the age of 7, her father dropped her off at a local orphanage, where abuse persisted over the next three years. No child on earth should have to experience a fraction of the evil Erica endured at the hands of those closest to her.
Due to the magnitude and level of her trauma, it has become evident that Erica's needs are beyond what our local mental health services can offer. Erica needs to be immersed in a God-centered, accredited therapeutic program to help her heal and come to a place where she not only has a second chance at life but also can thrive.
After much prayer and research, God has led the Walters to Red Hawk Academy for Girls. They have no doubts in their minds that this school has the resources to be able to help Erica become the incredible daughter of the Most High God, He created her to be.

The cost to attend Red Hawk Academy is steep, at $9,500/mo., but Aaron and Sarah genuinely feel that they are back in a place where once again, God is asking, "Do you trust me?". The Walters experienced God's provision in ways they could never have imagined when they took the step of faith with the girls' adoption. They are again choosing to trust that God, and his community of believers, will provide again in Erica's time of need. We feel the Academy offers the best option for Erica to have the opportunity to reclaim the childhood that was stolen from her when she was just a little girl. Will you prayerfully consider walking with us on this journey?
