Hi, my name is Jennifer Sechrist, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my beloved niece, Erica Hodges — a strong and loving 38-year-old mother, partner, and fighter — who is facing one of the toughest battles of her life: HER2 triple-negative breast cancer.

This aggressive form of breast cancer has turned Erica’s world upside down. Despite the fear and uncertainty, she has continued working while navigating countless medical appointments. But she will soon need to step away from work to undergo major surgery and what may be an extended course of treatment.

By her side through every step is her longtime life partner, Brett, who has been her rock through it all. Together, they’re doing everything they can to care for their family — especially their young child, who depends on them both.

As a self-employed mother without health insurance, Erica is facing every medical cost — from scans to surgery — out of pocket. She will also lose income while she’s recovering and undergoing treatment.
