Erica Bradbury Needs Help in her Anorexia Fight
Donation protected
Hi there.
My name is Erica Bradbury. I am 37 years old, and I am dying from the illness severe and enduring anorexia nervosa.
I have exhausted all treatment options in my province. I am too ill for traditional treatment programs elsewhere in Canada. A treatment stay in Denver, Colorado really helped in 2024, but returning home with little to no eating disorder specific supports- along with experiencing further trauma- allowed the anorexia to once again take over.
This disease has caused me many health issues, some of which are life threatening; gastroparesis, early heart failure, cardiac ischemia, bone loss, electrolyte imbalances, and muscle atrophy just to name a few.
Last week, I had a surgical feeding tube placed into my stomach to help my body receive the nourishment it needs to extend my life, and hopefully become strong enough to continue to fight this illness. While some of the incurred costs are covered by private insurance, the amount out of pocket that needs to be paid is astronomical; adding a big financial burden to an already impossible situation. I am on a special formula for my GI system, and the cost for that alone is unimaginable, let alone the cost for other needed supplies such as feed bags, syringes, replacement tubes, etc. Apparently Newfoundland is the only province in Canada that does not offer financial assistance for feeding tube supplies and formula. A life saving medical necessity. Yet another healthcare fail. Anything that could be offered to help these costs would be greatly appreciated. My life depends on it.

The support and encouragement I have received from all over Canada has been overwhelming in a wonderful way.
With gratitude and hope,
