Dana Needs Angel's  now!

Sadly, Wednesday May 19th Erica lost her life due to an aneurism in her brain. She will be greatly missed by many!

I stared this fundraiser for Erica Campbell because she was sick with pneumonia and had blood clots in her lungs. Sadly, Wednesday May 19th Erica lost her fight due to an aneurism in her brain. Erica Campbell was a long time resident of South Portland along with her husband Dana. Together they owned Campbell's Market on Broadway, in South Portland; an iconic landmark known by many in the Portland area and beyond. The store has been around since 1958 and has since been run by generations of Campbell's. Dana is holding on the best he knows how at the moment. When I spoke with him Thursday, he said his customers at the store and his family were helping him get through each passing day. He said he just wants to see people.  "I really just want to see faces," he told me. "I just want people to come in and say hi, it's not so lonely that way. I don't even care if they buy anything.  That's not what it's about. My customers provide comfort right now." 

Dana said he hope's the obituary will be in Sunday's paper but wasn't sure if he'd meet that goal.  I told Dana I would keep fundraising in order to pay hospital expenses, funeral expenses, and what ever else he may need.  I told him I would spread the word about dropping in to say hello.  

When you walked into Campbell's, you were always sure to be greeted by Dana at the register and Erica, in the kitchen, where she made dozens of those DELICIOUS Maine Italian Sandwiches among other tasty food.  This is definitely something residents of South Portland and beyond are going to miss.
