Hello...this is my sister Erica. On March 22, 2018 she had a major heart attack. Her road to recovery has been a long one and is still ongoing. She is still in the hospital battling the aftermath of her heart attack. She was a traveling NICU nurse. She was on assignment when this happened at UCLA Santa Monica. Erica went into work and was not feeling well and so she ended up going to the ER. They were going to actually discharge her until the wonderful ER nurse recognized that she wasn't ready to be discharged. The nurse had her try and walk and Erica developed shortness of breath and chest pain. She was taken to cath lab and then had to be intubated due to respiratory distress. Erica stayed intubated in the ICU for 11 days. That was a tough time. It seemed neverending. At one point she was extubated, but had to be re intubated because she couldn't breathe . After she was finally extubated, she continued to battle issues after issues. Her vocal cords were damaged from the breathing tube and then she was unable to swallow and speak. Her lungs and kidneys were also major issues. She is now out of the ICU and doing better, but still continues to battle with lung issues and occasional chest pain. She can only whisper. I'm trying to raise money to help with her with her medical bills, household bills, medications and to help her through this recovery while she is unable to work. Thanks for taking the time to read our story. We would like to thank everyone in advance for their kindness and support. We really appreciate it. Thank you! P.S ...If the ER nurse at UCLA Santa Monica sees this post, Erica and her family would love to meet you to personally thank you for saving her life.
