Erica Smith's Eagle Project for CPRL Techmobile

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Erica Smith. I am a Life Scout in Scouts, BSA Troop 219 out of Garber UMC. My Eagle Scout Project will benefit the rural areas in my community that are currently served by the Craven-Pamlico Regional Library Techmobile. The Techmobile is a van owned by the library. It currently provides mobile internet access to areas of Craven and Pamlico counties that have limited or no internet access. Currently,  the Techmobile is able to provide internet access via cellular internet access. My Eagle Scout Project will add a high-speed satellite internet receiver to the Techmobile in order to provide greater internet access to the underserved areas of Craven and Pamlico counties.

This project will provide internet access to areas of Craven and Pamlico counties that currently have limited or no internet access. It will allow school-age children that are without internet access the opportunity to get their school work done so they do not get behind. It will also allow kids and adults to check out books from the library through the Techmobile. By adding a satellite connection, the van will be able to provide greater broadband access to the internet. Additionally, I intend to add a barcode scanner and 5 wireless, rechargable fans to the Techmobile. By using the barcode scanner, the library will be able to check in and out books more efficiently via the Techmoble. Furthermore, the fans will provide comfort within and outside the Techmobile

This project means a lot to me, and I humbly ask you to donate to this worthy cause.  Thank you!
