Erica McKelvey

Hi friends, we are raising money to help our dear friend Erica McKelvey in her fight against cervical cancer. Everyone who knows Erica knows that she wakes up every day thinking about ways that she can help other people or other peoples dogs. Well now she needs us. In case you don’t know what she has been up against for the past couple of years let me tell you about it. COVID was a nightmare for small business owners like Erica who were not eligible for most of the government’s financial support. She was closed down 4 times with absolutely no income. Despite the challenges, she made sure that Ferghus and Company remained a solid business to be there for our dogs, and that her employees kept working, but it was at enormous personal expense. If that wasn’t enough, she had to navigate the breakdown of her marriage and then a diagnosis of cervical cancer. Being sick is expensive when you don’t have the benefit of a sick leave plan to give you an income, or medical insurance for drugs and equipment. Erica fought hard to get through it and to get back to the work she loves but cancer isn’t done with her yet, and now she is facing a tougher fight with a recurrence. We can help her to focus on the hard part that she has to do by making sure that she doesn’t have to worry about being able to pay her mortgage, or being able to pay for the drugs she needs to lessen the side effects of chemo, or the compression garments that she needs to manage lymphedema, and to also allow her to continue to grab life and do some fun things with her beautiful girls. Even the smallest donation can make a big impact when a community comes together with a common goal.
