Erica Keiko Iseri Scholarship Fund
EDIT: This got shared more widely than I expected, so I should add some background for people who didn't know Erica.
Erica moved to Fairbanks from LA at 17 and remained at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in some capacity for most of her adult life. She earned her BA and MFA here, then went on to teach English before settling in as the campus's study abroad advisor. Her background as a student and traveler made her an unusually fierce advocate for students. She was also an artist, an award-winning writer, a dog musher, and a beloved friend to many.
Erica's passing in September, at just 39, has left an enormous hole in our lives, our hearts, and in the international education community in Fairbanks. Her students, colleagues, and friends badly want to establish a lasting scholarship in her memory. Please consider donating, in any amount.
Our first fundraising push brought in around $12,000 (at last report--it might be more now). I'm hoping to push it past $15,000, which will be enough for the family to consider making the fund an endowed scholarship.
Please consider donating, either here or directly through the UAF Development Office. Here's how you can do that:
1. Online at www.uaf.edu/giving (please be sure to check “Other” under gift designation and specify Erica's name).
2. By check (payable to the "UA Foundation" and mailed to the UA Foundation, PO Box 755080, Fairbanks, AK 99775).
3. By phone (contact University of Alaska Fairbanks Development & Alumni Relations at [phone redacted]; they can also answer giving questions).
Be sure to specify that your gift is in memory of Erica Keiko Iseri.
Thank you.
