Eric's Road of Recovery

On Saturday morning, November 16th, my step dad Eric went into cardiac arrest. He went to bed the night before with no health problems and felt just fine. My mom, Mary Lynn, luckily did not get out of bed Saturday morning at 6:30am like usual. She laid in bed for another 30 minutes and heard when Eric started breathing irregularly. She said his name a couple of times and he was unresponsive. My mom went to his side of the bed and called 911 immediately and began to give my step dad CPR.. The first responders were able somewhat stabilize his breathing and heart rate through the electric shocks, a "Lucas" shock, and a breathing machine. Eric is being held at Fairview in intensive care. As of right now they do not know the cause of his cardiac arrest, due to most of his test coming back normal. He is currently on a breathing tube and highly sedated. His body temperature is also being cooled down to prevent any brain damage.. Due to the CPR and the "Lucas" shock, he could potentially have fractured ribs and does have a slight burn from the electrical shocks given when the first responders arrived. He is looking at a long road of recovery and is expected to be out of work for a long period of time. With the holidays right around the corner and having a one income household these medical expenses are going to be hard to afford. Anything donated will help my mom and step dad lift a weight off of their shoulders during this time.
