On December 12th, Eric and Shannon Wickman recieved the devastating news of colon cancer after attending the Emergency Department in Kenora. On Eric's 40th birthday, the world as they knew it came crumbling down around them and has been a roller coaster of emotions ever since. Eric and Shannon have been together for 17 wonderful years and in this time have raised a beautiful 7 year old daughter, Rylee. This incredible, caring, kind hearted couple just recently got married in July of 2017 only a day after losing Eric's beloved father Wes.
On January 12th, Eric went in to have a large tumor removed from his colon, but unfortunately due to the cancer metastasizing, surgeons had to stop the procedure and search for alternative treatment options. Eric has been left with an abdominal drain and symptoms making him unable to work. Shannon is not working at this time as she is home, dedicated to taking care of Eric as they face this terrifying reality together.
Eric begins chemotherapy on January 22nd. This family is in for an extremely difficult fight with cancer and is in need of our support to continue fighting.
With Eric and Shannon unable to work they are in need of assistance to help cover bills, travel to appointments and treatment, medications and all of the other additional and unexpected costs that come along as they fight this battle.
This family is phenomenal. They are some of the greatest people most have had the pleasure of knowing. They are down to earth and kind hearted. They are the type of people that would do anything to help somone in their time of need. Let’s help them in theirs. They have had an extremely difficult year already and need this support to keep them strong and moving forward.
With all of the stress, fear and heartache that they are already facing, we would like to make any attempt to lessen the added stress of finances as they face the most difficult days of their lives. It is crucial that they are able to have this time to support and just be with one another, as the outcome of treatments are unknown at this time.
