Walk a mile in the shoes of Steve and Cindy Thomas. Both retired teachers from Van Wert High School, the Thomas’ expected to enjoy winters in Florida. But not this year. Recently, their middle child, 35 year old Eric Thomas (brother of Erin Thomas Moran and Craig Thomas) was diagnosed with ALS aka Lou Gehrigs disease—a progressive disease of the nervous system that is fatal. Eric married the love of his life, Kati, just a few years ago. Together they have a darling little girl, Collette and Kati’s two teenaged boys. Eric can no longer work and requires assistance with everything: eating, toileting, and hygiene. He can no longer walk and has little use of his hands. He will soon lose the ability to speak. Kati is parenting 3 kids, caring for Eric, maintaining a home AND working a full time job. Steve and Cindy are emotionally supporting Steve’s parents (who are BOTH in hospice) while helping Eric with expenses such as a handicap van and a wheelchair ramp. The Thomas family NEEDS and DESERVES your help with the catastrophic expenses related to Eric’s illness. They need gas money, meals, medical equipment and $1000 per month for a home health aide. Walk a mile in the shoes of these good people then open your wallet and do what you can to help them get through a time few of us can imagine.
