Eric Edwin's memoir - for myeloma research & care

Eric Edwin: Getting My House in Order

About the project
Eric Edwin is a former amateur bodybuilder and Bedfordshire’s first Black male police officer. From 1979 he served 42 years, 30 as a Police Officer (and five of those 30 undercover), and 12 as a Police Civilian Staff specialising in covert policing, fraud and financial investigation.

It was not his idea to write a memoir: “self-praise is no recommendation,” he likes to say. But in 2016, he was diagnosed with incurable multiple myeloma.

His friends had been in his ear: Windrush Generation parents; Bedfordshire’s first Black male police officer; bodybuilder. There was a story here that people would read.

Eric hopes that sharing his story might help others, and that it might be used to raise money for cancer research and care.

We are publishing Eric’s memoir as a series of attractive, small format chapbooks. Books 1 & 2 are in production now and will be available before the end of 2022.

Where your donations will go
Donations will go to Myeloma UK, Macmillan Cancer Care, and other local and regional cancer charities. A small amount of the money raised will be used to offset the memoir's production costs, which we are keeping to a minimum.

Donations of any amount will be gratefully received.

What you will receive
A donation of any size entitles you to an e-copy of books 1 & 2. A donation of £4 or more entitles you to an e-copy of books 1 & 2 and a hard copy of either (your choice).

To arrange for delivery either of e-books or hard copies, please contact Oli Belas and Nicola Darwood directly.

Nicola Darwood and Oli Belas are Senior Lecturers in the University of Bedfordshire’s School of Education and English.

Thank you for your support.
