Eric Schmidtke Accident Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On March 15th, Eric was in a severe accident while snow blowing and was rushed to Allen Hospital, then due to the extent of his injuries, he was transferred to Mercy in Mason City for emergency hand surgery with a specialist. Unfortunately, his injuries necessitated the amputation of four of his fingers on his dominant hand (left), only saving his thumb. Although grateful the injuries weren't more severe, Eric has a very long road to recovery ahead of him with many medical appointments, physical and occupational therapy, adapting to a prosthetic, and adjusting to a new normal in their everyday life. The next several months will be extremely physically and emotionally trying for Eric and his family, and inevitably have a large financial impact with medical bills, loss of income, and additional childcare and household costs.
Many people have been reaching out to ask how they can help Eric and his family and we felt this is the best avenue for anyone to contribute during this trying time.
**This GoFundMe has been setup by Ashley Keightley, close friend of the family.
