Eric Robinson Rise Up Fund

My name is Anna Mazurek and I am fundraising for Eric Robinson who is a homeless young adult I met sleeping out in the cold in front of my doctor's office one morning. Seeing young people in the prime of their lives, the age of my own children, facing such undersupport, abandonment and neglect is heart-wrenching.

I asked Eric what had brought him to such circumstances, and he said there had been a shootout in the park he was sleeping in in downtown Atlanta and he just knew he had to get out. I prayed over him the words my mom has often emphasized that are so critical for all of us to hear but particularly young men, words that come from the very Fatherhood and heart of God, "You are my beloved son in whom I am well pleased." As the son of a drug-addicted Father, Eric began to cry and so did I and that has been the beginning of a developing sonly friendship that has been humbling and delightful. Since the time I met Eric he has landed and is maintaining two jobs, one for an eviction company of all places and another at Marcos pizza. He calls me to check in and share positives and difficulties, he sends me the most beautiful notes of encouragement that come at a time when only the Holy Spirit could know what it means to me.

Friend Dave who lives and breathes homeless ministry said the best thing to do for a homeless person who shows eagerness to move beyond circumstances is to commit to go in monthly as friends on a food budget and an extended stay facility so as to give the person a space of grace to ideally maintain work and gain some financial savings and traction. As funds come in, Paul and I will book the days at the hotel according to the amount of money raised. This will be a couple months' jumpstart and hopefully those of you who feel called might be willing to transition into ongoing support according to need.
