For: Bobbie Howard’s Son, Eric Powell
Reason: Legal Fees
Bobbie Howard, an eighty-year-old African-American Christian woman whose work with homeless individuals for decades has brought relief to many so far as food and housing goes has become saddled with legal issues concerning her son, Eric Powell. Eric, like his mother, has been working with the homeless by feeding them and taking them in until recently when he lost his house wherein he and they were staying. He was renting the house and it was sold.
As a result, the homeless had no place to stay, and Eric, a Christian man fell into bad times. The stress of losing the house and leaving those depending on him on the streets caused Eric to turn to alcohol. This resulted in him being in an accident in which a bicyclist was killed. Although accidental, Eric was jailed. Given the legal circumstances his mother is left to raise $18,000 (half over the next two weeks) to retain legal representation. Originally, the amount was $36,000.00 but was reduced by 50%. Three thousand has been raised by the mother’s efforts, but she is hoping that the GoFundMe project can help her with the balance. The trial date is set for November 1, 2022.
