Eric Lemke Memorial Scholarship Fund
Spende geschützt
It is difficult to express the loss felt by the passing of Glenbard East English teacher Eric Lemke. While Eric had been battling an aggressive sarcoma for quite some time, his composure and positive outlook made the news that he ended his 7-year journey with cancer when he died on 12/11/20 a complete shock to his friends and family.
The impact Eric had on those who knew him, however, will endure. His colleagues know from Eric not to make a big deal out of small things and are inspired to take on more challenges than they thought themselves capable of while helping their students achieve their best. After all, if Eric could coach wrestling while also grading a hundred essays, if Eric could run PBIS while also teaching five classes, if Eric could teach and coach for a full school year and then spend his summer grading a thousand AP English Language essays, if Eric could spend his next warm months being summer school principal and also founding East’s chapter of the National English Honors Society, if Eric Lemke could teach five classes remotely while being radiated in his off-hours and then enduring another round of chemotherapy, then any one of us could step up for our students and help them be a better version of themselves as he did every day.
It is in this spirit of devotion that you would be honoring Eric’s legacy by donating to the Eric Lemke Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund would help students and athletes at Glenbard East in their pursuit of furthering their education while pushing themselves to be great citizens within the community. The Lemke Family appreciates your donation to honor Eric Lemke and his commitment to being the best people we can be.
