Dear friends, old and new, we need your help.
Eric is in the fight of her life, he has been diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumor. Unfortunately the cancer is in his Brain Stem, his experimental treatment is not covered by the VA.
THE BACKSTORY
Eric Hughes is a young proud USMC combat veteran that served 1 tour in Afghanistan and 1 year in Iraq. Eric is also the father of a 5-year-old princess.
Four years ago, Eric was beating a very complex form of Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.
The VA Hospital teamed up with MD Anderson Hospital to perform a hemispherectomy, which is a rare surgery where 1/4th of his brain was removed.
The Brain Cancer remained in remission with the aid of his cocktail of medications.
4 ½ years later the cancer came back with a vengeance and began to grow within Eric’s Brain Stem. Within 4 months, the cancer went from a tiny dot to the size of a dime!
The doctor gave him 5 months to live without treatment.
Eric has begun his treatment at the VA Medical Center at Houston, TX. As the Glioblastoma brain cancer is growing in his brain stem, pressure is building up causing various issues. Eric has developed the following issues: - Tunnel vision – head aches – weak legs - Short term memory loss – and more…
Soon after Eric began his radiation treatments at the VA Hospital, we found a Focused Ultrasound treatment that will cook the Glioblastoma dead!
Focused Ultrasound quickens healing and reduces inflammation caused by radiation. Radiation is a chemical burn throughout the body and that burn results in inflammation. When the body has inflammation, your available immune system to fight normal bugs is drastically reduced and will not have time to fight cancer. Therefore, to free-up as much as 83% of your immune system to fight cancer, one must repair the cellular chemical burn and reduce inflammation.
This procedure is an answered prayer as well as costly.
THE COSTS
As Glioblastoma Brain Cancer is obviously devastating to his health and devastating to his family finances. Please join us to raise a $10,000 donation to aid Eric in paying for Ultrasound Treatment as well as the numerous other cancer related expenses.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
This is where we ask for your help. We know that life is busy and expensive, so we want you to know that whatever you can offer to help, is enough. Every little bit counts. If you can forgo the cost of a coffee today (around $4) we would be so grateful. If you can forgo coffees for a week ($28) or even a month ($120) we would be super grateful. Anything you can do to help will make a difference. Sharing Eric’s heartbreaking story with your friends, and spreading her story far and wide, will help bring more people to rally around and make this life-saving experimental treatment happen.
Most importantly, we also ask for everyone to also pray for: - Peace - strength - healing for Eric and his family.
God Bless and Semper Fi
