12/28 Update - Our family can't seem to catch a break this month.. My mom's dog, Lilly, at only a year and a half old, began having seizures last night. We rushed her to the emergency vet where she had several more. They kept her for 24 hour seizure watch and gave her the care she needed. As you can imagine, the bill was astronomical. They recommended Lilly be taken to a neurologist, as her behavior has completely changed. She is disoriented, off balance, and continuously hiding.

Lilly has been my mom's rock at home after the unexpected passing of my dad earlier this month. I am hoping for continued support in effort to help my mom afford the care Lilly needs. We need her to be okay.

Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts. This month has been nothing short of overwhelming.

12/2 Update - Our family experienced the worst day of our lives yesterday, as we had to say goodbye to my dad. His battle became harder and harder, but he gave us everything he had in him. We are forever grateful for the love my father showed us and the sacrifices he made for our family. The world lost a wonderful man yesterday and we will miss him every single day for the rest of our lives. Rest in peace Dad. We love you more than we could ever explain. ❤️❤️❤️

If you can find it in your heart, I ask that you continue to support my mom if possible to afford her the time to grieve rather than worrying about how the bills will be paid. Thank you to everyone who has donated and for all the love and support pouring in. We will never forget the kindness that has been shown to us during the hardest time of our life.

Hi everyone. My name is Sam, and I've created this GoFundMe for my parents, as my dad, Eric, is chronically ill and has been hospitalized in critical condition since 11/22 with no clear end in sight. We have no idea when or if he will be able to return to work, as he has a long road ahead.

My dad was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver in May 2020 and has had a rough journey since. He has been hospitalized countless times and sustained numerous injuries due to complications from his illness. When my dad was hospitalized in June due to erroneously being prescribed the wrong medication, he almost didn’t make it, as he lost more than half his blood, which felt like the scariest night of our lives. The next day, we were told that my dad has 1-3 years to live without a liver transplant. Devastated would be an understatement.

On 11/22, my dad had arrived at work, got out of his car, and became dizzy; he fell straight back and slammed his head on the concrete. He was rushed to Aultman Hospital, where we found that his levels of ammonia, sodium, and potassium were alarmingly off. After finding out his CT scan and xrays came back okay, we'd initially thought they would keep him for a couple days, get his levels right again, and send him home. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

The next morning, my dad talked my brother and I through how to make his specialties for Thanksgiving dinner over the phone. We brought Thanksgiving dinner to him in the hospital since he couldn't be with us at home, only to find that he was unable to wake up. We can get short responses out of him now, as if he is sleep talking, but he has not woken up since 11/23. He is now on a BiPap machine, as we were told they found that he has pneumonia. His battle has continued to become more difficult over the last week.

Being that my dad has been in bed in the ICU since Friday afternoon, they believe he will need to be transferred to a facility upon release from the hospital for extensive physical therapy in order to return to normal.

My dad has struggled to continue working over the last year, as it's been extremely difficult for his body to handle, but he's continued to work to maintain his health insurance. Unfortunately, disability is currently not an option, as they advised he needs to make $20,000 or less per year for 3 years to qualify. With being off work due to hospitalizations and injuries caused by complications from his Cirrhosis, all the medical bills coming in, and all the medical costs to come, finances are becoming increasingly stressful to manage.

We are finally in touch with the Cleveland Clinic, after months of trying to reach anyone about starting the process for a liver transplant, and are hoping that we can finally start working toward getting him back to the quality of life that he deserves.

Thank you for any help you can provide so that my parents focus on my dad's care rather than money.
