Obituary for Eric.

Eric John Harjala, age 50 of Traprock Valley, Michigan went home to be with our loving Lord and Savior on March 5, 2025.

Eric was born on December 29, 1974 in Laurium, Michigan. He was the middle son of Gerald and Audrey (Maki) Harjala.

Eric was a 1993 graduate of Lake Linden/Hubbell High School.

Eric married Jenna (Erickson) on May 22, 2010 in Stone Lake, Wisconsin with Pastor Gerald Southerton officiating. They were married on the beach where they had their first date watching a meteor shower in 2009.

Eric and Jenna enjoyed 15 wonderful years together. God blessed them with 3 strong and adventurous sons: Caleb, Eli, and Benjamin, and 2 loving and supportive step-sons Billy and Micah.

Eric worked for Raasio Homes as a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed his job and valued the friendship he had with Shane and the crew.

Eric was a hardworking and dedicated provider for his family. Together they enjoyed his many hobbies such as: rock picking, sapping, ship watching, music, singing, camping, hiking, and family drives. Eric was also an avid steelhead fisherman and hunter; the knowledge and skills of which he enjoyed passing on to his boys.

Eric and family are members of the North Point Church where they have found a second family.

Eric is preceded in death by his mother Audrey (Maki) Harjala. He is survived by his wife Jenna, sons Caleb, Eli, Benjamin, step-sons Billy and Micah, father Gerald Harjala, brothers Greg Harjala and Kurt (Amy) Harjala, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jenna and sons are grateful for the overwhelming support from family, friends, and community lifting us up in this time of change and grief - a true reflection of God’s love towards us during this time. Psalm 121

A funeral service will be held for Eric at 12:00 PM on Thursday March 13, 2025 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Thursday March 13, 2025 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home. A potluck style celebration of life will be held following the service in the Siskiwit Reception Hall.

Saturday March 1st, Eric Harjala went ice fishing with 2 of his sons and collapsed with a medical emergency!

He was brought to Baraga hospital and transferred to UP Health -Marquette in critical /serious condition. He has several brain bleeds.

He is on life support and his family and friends covet your prayers for a miracle.

Eric is the only income for the family.

Please! please! Help support Eric, Jenna and the boys (from Lake Linden- Tamarack city) (Micah, Billy, Caleb, Eli, Ben) with the unexpected and emergent medical bills along with normal bills and living expenses.
