Eric Doherty Recovery Fund - Brain Surgery/Stroke

Donation protected
A few weeks ago, our dear friend Eric underwent major surgery for the removal of a large tumor pressing against his brain. A few days before the brain surgery, he suffered two massive strokes that disabled his functioning capabilities. The tumor has been removed, however, doctors do not know the long-term, potential effects of the stroke and surgery.  According to the doctor, the 7-8cm tumor had been unknowingly growing there for a number of years which was a factor to his unexplained, erratic behaviors.

He is currently undergoing rehab at the Villa Mesa Care Center in Upland, CA and will remain there for at least two months. He is alert but responses are slow and sluggish at this time.

Eric is a dedicated, loyal Christian brother to those who know him. He is a man of integrity, a man of his word and very involved in outreach ministry work. An active volunteer of the Hope Central community church outreach program in Watts, Los Angeles, he serves teens and young adults by making dinner, playing games, spending time and building them up with the word of Jesus Christ. He is also a member of Morningstar Christian Chapel and also active in Crosspoint Christian Church, Whittier, CA. On Sundays, he shares the word at the Brookdale Senior Residence.

While he is in rehab, he still needs to pay his bills including car payments. Eric has no family or relatives here in California. He has an only sister in Colorado, Karen who is helping as much as she can. At the time of this occurrence, he was between jobs. He had to give up his rented room and his belongings are currently in storage.

At this point, we don't know what type of medical care he will require or living situation/ future medical care needed, whether he will be able to work again or live on his own.

Those who know Eric have seen the love and dedication he has extended to so many around him with needs. Now, Eric has a need.  Because of this unexpected, life-changing situation, we hope that those whose lives have been touched by Eric will come forward to help in any way possible. Prayers and visits are very much appreciated. Additionally, in the near future, he may need someplace to stay or home care assistance for some time.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity in advance.

P.S. All funds donated will be going to Eric's sister Karen who is helping Eric with payments.
