Hello to all of our family and friends. Frankly, there's no other way to describe our last 2 weeks, so here it is: Thanksgiving delivered a rather large serving of crap sandwiches for the Rice family. My mom, Kristina Rice, has been struggling with a multitude of symptoms in October, all of which were easily explainable and not recognized as something serious. Fast forward to November, when her doctor ordered a routine MRI on her hip, as she had developed pain there, from what we thought was overcompensating due to a bum knee. On November 22nd, we went into a tailspin, when the MRI results showed multiple metastatic tumors to her hip, femur, pelvis, lumbar, and sacral regions. Down the rabbit hole we went, spending the next 2 days scheduling tests, oncology appointments, Scans, etc. to find the primary source of her cancer. Mom was very weak. 4 days later, as if there was not enough to deal with, my mom took a bad fall, suffering a fracture to her Right ankle. She has been in the hospital since the 26th of November, getting poked, prodded, scanned, and tested. She is bed bound currently, unable to put weight on the Left hip due to a pathologic fracture from the cancer making a hole in her hip, and the Right leg, after having surgery to fix the ankle. Friday, December 3rd, we were given the prognosis that we dreaded to hear. "the cancer is very advanced...." The cancer has blasted throughout her body like a shot gun. Her bones, both lungs, and multiple areas in her brain, 2 of which are within her brainstem, where basic functions necessary for life reside. We are devastated, with a prognosis of perhaps a few months left to enjoy life.

Mom will come home on Monday with hospice, and even though hospice will cover a great many expenses, my mom is needing 24hr care, which we will need assistance with. We humbly request help from you in reducing my dad's large financial burden in paying for occasional medical transportation, as well as providing respite to us family members in providing care for mom. Your donations will be used to hire a caregiver and pay for medical transport, as she is unable to get in and out of the car.

We are so grateful to all of our family and friends for your love and support during this overwhelming time.
