Cancer is not a new word in the Smith family. Most of you are aware that Eric has undergone almost 15 years of cancer treatment for metastatic kidney cancer. Recently, these treatments have increased in intensity, with a couple surgeries, long hospital stays and complications that have come from both the surgeries and the cancer process itself. With this cancer progression, Eric is in a place of needing care from Gina and many medical professionals. They are now balancing that and the realities of Gina’s sarcoma cancer on the leg that was diagnosed this year: treatments, recovery and monitoring.

We are reaching out to family and friends to help with medical expenses and to replace Eric and Gina’s income during these stretches of time when they are unable to work. Any donation, large or small, will help! Gina and Eric have five kids—Gabby just finishing her mission and heading to college again, Emmitt on his mission in Brazil, Chloe and Charlotte in high school and Tennyson in junior high. It is always hard to know how to help in times like this. We are hoping financial donations will offer them the relief and support that is needed at this time.

As Gina's sister, I have been blown away with the outpouring of love and service that has been offered to Gina, Eric and their family. With so many people reaching out and asking how they can help, it was decided that this was the best avenue. I love my sister and Eric so much and express thanks to all of you who love them too!!
