Gina & Eric's Cancer Relief Fund

Cancer is not a new word in the Smith family. Most of you are aware that Eric, Gina's husband, has undergone 14 years of cancer treatment for metastatic kidney cancer. Recently, these treatments have increased in intensity. In March, Gina found out that she too has cancer. She has sarcoma (a large cancerous lump) on her leg and underwent 3 weeks of radiation in April. She now has an upcoming surgery to remove the mass from her lower leg. In a second surgery, surgeons will transplant a large patch of her upper-leg tissue to cover—and hopefully repair—the cavity left in her calf. This is just the beginning of her journey, as doctors tell her she has months of recovery and physical therapy ahead.

We are reaching out to family and friends to help with medical expenses and to replace Gina’s income while she is unable to work. Any donation, large or small, will help! Gina and Eric have five kids—with Gabby currently serving a mission and Emmitt preparing for his mission in July. It is always hard to know how to help in times like this. We are hoping financial donations will offer them the relief and support that is needed at this time.

As Gina's sister, I have been blown away with the outpouring of love and service that has been offered to Gina, Eric and their family. With so many people reaching out and asking how they can help, it was decided that this was the best avenue. I love my sister so much and express thanks to all of you who love her too!!
