Eric has heroically pressed forward through over 15 years of cancer treatment for metastatic kidney cancer. Gina is now a year into her battle with soft tissue sarcoma cancer on her leg. After years of intense treatments, countless surgeries, pain, and long hospital stays, Eric's cancer has progressed to where they have decided as a family to transition him to hospice at home. Eric has endured with faith, positivity and family as his priority. He always shows up with a smile and ready to serve others. His selflessness is to be admired. His greatest joys are his family, his love for the Savior and his work for the Church History Department. The Smith family are now spending time together as a family as Gina cares for Eric 24/7 and helps him make final preparations for his heavenly home.

As friends and family continue to ask "what can we do?" ~ we have updated this site for ease of donating. Funds raised will help ease the financial burden by covering medical expenses already incurred, replacing Gina's lost income during this difficult time, and assisting with funeral costs. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference.

Gina and Eric are the devoted parents of five children: Gabby, who is working while attending college; Emmitt, who has been serving a mission the past year in Brazil and is returning home briefly to spend time with his family; and Chloe, Charlotte, and Tennyson, who are all at home and attending high school.

As Gina's older sister, I continue to be overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of love and service shown to their family. From delicious meals and sweet treats to thoughtful text messages, yard work, blankets, house cleaning, comforting words, visits, countless carpools, errands, meaningful gifts, beautiful artwork, and so much more, every act of kindness has been a source of strength and comfort.

The generosity, compassion, and love that so many have shared with this family have been truly inspiring. There simply aren't enough words to express our gratitude. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has reached out, served, prayed, donated, and stood beside our family during this time.
