Eric and Erika In Vitro Support

It’s been a long road, and I'm only 35; my husband 36. We’ve tried on and off to get pregnant for a few years, the last hiatus in trying because I was earning my doctorate. The road hasn’t been easy. We are now to the point of requiring in vitro to have our own baby. This fact comes months after all assessments and evaluations to find the cause. Needless to say, we have a 3% chance of getting pregnant without support. We are fortunate to have a lovely home, great jobs, and two pups we adore. But we feel empty without a child of our own. We have even considered adoption; unfortunately, that cost is even higher than in vitro.

With our jobs and status, one might accuse us of being able to afford in vitro. That, too, is very sad in that we cannot. Between student loans, supporting my medically fragile mother and an amputee, and doing all we can to live our lives and give all we can to our families and nieces and nephews, it leaves little for us to invest. We cannot tap into our retirement funds as we don't have that much, and to be honest, if God allowed us to get pregnant on our own, we need that for our future and our child’s future.

So this is the last place I ever wanted to be, but I am praying that there are people out there who think this is a worthy enough cause. Neither my insurance nor my husband's insurance will cover any piece of artificial insemination; disgustingly, they would pay 100% for me to sterilize myself. Everything we have done in our adult lives has been to create the best opportunity for a happy and healthy family, and we desperately seek any love and support in reaching that goal for ourselves. I am an only child, so this is the only chance for my parents to have grandchildren, and my husband would be the most amazing father. Anything would help. And we are hoping and praying that this can reach far and wide to get to our goal. We, and our two pups, are dying for someone to love and raise as our own. And this is our only option.
