Erenjang School Feeding Programme

We are team Erenjang and for the last two years we have been working on a project in The Gambia that has become a significant and incredible part of all of our lives.

The Erenjang Project aims to improve the lives of those within the community of Kotu, The Gambia - particularly the children who are currently attending Erenjang Nursery school. Over the last two years we have worked tirelessly to turn what was a derelict building into a beautiful and bright school that is the perfect environment for learning. We are so proud to see all 130 students, aged 2 to 7, getting the education they truly deserve, every single day.

Now we face another hurdle, one that is extremely pressing across the whole of The Gambia - malnutrition. This public health crisis affects one in four children in the country and is responsible for many different health issues that impact the success of the students education.

We want to implement a feeding programme that will both ensure balanced meals for the school children of Erenjang Nursery and offer properly informed advice to parents on how they can maintain a nutrition fuelled diet at home.

We aim to provide each child with one balanced meal everyday as well as fruit for them to eat during their breaks, to ensure their energy levels are maintained throughout the entirety of their school day. We hope that being fed a varied and nutritious diet will improve their overall health significantly as they grow.

£9,000 will allow us to do the following things:

- Buy all of the equipment needed to run the kitchen
- Employ members of staff to run the programme throughout the whole school year
- Purchase all of the produce needed to make all of the meals for the 130 children attending the nursery

We want to get the feeding programme up and running for this September, it's an ambitious target, but with your help we can ensure the bright futures of the children of Erenjang Nursery School.

Join us in spreading the wealth of health to West Africa!
