Erebus Life Saving Surgery

Hey guys,

This morning I had to rush my beautiful boy Erebus to an emergency vet, and while there I was told that due to a life-threatening issue in his intestines, he needs a major $4000 surgery to survive.

I approved the surgery, and am waiting anxiously as we wait to see if he will pull through.

$4000 seems like a lot of money for a scrappy FIV+ shelter cat, but being out here without family means that he is my family. I was told that the only other option was to euthanize him. He is just 4 years old, and I couldn’t bear letting him go without giving him every chance to fight this. If he survives surgery, they expect he will live a long and happy life without further complications.

When I first brought him home 2 years ago, he came in fighting. He had clearly been abused by people before he was caught because he was terrified of human closeness. Him and I both worked tirelessly to build up his trust, and work through his intense fear-based aggression. Until today, where he is the most loving, gentle and intelligent cat I’ve ever had the joy of knowing.

This cat has laid with me at my feet every night since I brought him home 2 years ago. He has quietly climbed onto my lap while I have cried through many hardships in America. He hates laps, but I think he did it to tell me that I wasn’t alone.

We have come too far together for me to let him go now.

This surgery puts me in fairly dire financial straits, but it seemed like the right thing, for my friend.

Anything you can do to help is much appreciated. I don’t anticipate raising the full sum, but I thought I would put this out and see if it could help at all.
