On February 25th Sam suffered a very unexpected turn of events. In Sam’s 37 years of life she has only ever had one seizure back in 2016. Sam suffered a stroke at birth which resulted in brain damage. She lives with cerebral palsy as a result of that. That Saturday morning she had several seizures which left her unconscious with labored breathing. Sam was taken by ambulance where she continued to seize. When she arrived at the hospital she was placed on a ventilator in a medically induced coma for the next 3 days. Sam will have several months before she can navigate driving and returning to work or normal life again.
Sam has not let her disability from birth hold her back in any way. She works part time and is an amazing mommy and wife. Her youngest is Gavin who is a busy 3 year old and her oldest is Sophia who is a spunky 6 year old who loves soccer. Sams husband Gene is a dedicated husband and father and works long hard weeks to maintain the household financially. Gene will have to take a family medical leave from work as will Sam and finances will be minimal. As with any serious unexpected traumatic medical situation there will be a multitude of bills that cannot be paid.
If you are in a position to help please consider donating. If you cannot help and know and love our Sammy please share her Gofundme!
